blue currents

Photobook
Handbound, 56 pages
Blue currents is a series of photos in the form of a handbound photobook. The work describes loss, distance and memory and recounts the space, physical and emotional, felt between a body and the landscape. It draws connections between human experiences and natural occurrences where the cold ocean tides move and shape emotional geography.
Both human skin and a sea shell possess material qualities that link them to a common place of origin. The work contemplates the idea that by reconnecting ourselves with the non-human world we might overcome our past experiences, such as loss, and find a new way of belonging in the universe.
